What is Spianata Salami?
Spianata means “squeezed in”. In Italy this is a well-known sausage, recognizable because fresh peppers and pieces of bacon are mixed in. The unique taste is due to the filling of lard, salt and chili peppers. The sausage is then pressed flat, to which it owes its special name.
Only the best pork is good enough for this product. The meat is mixed with all the delicious spices and then matures for 60 days . This used to be done between two boards, but today the sausage ripens in an elongated metal shape. This creates the characteristic flat shape.
On a pizza or as a snack
You can eat this salami in different ways. Thanks to its spicy taste, this product is ideal for a spicy pizza or focaccia. We recommend slicing the Spianata as thinly as possible, as this enhances the flavour. Salami Spianata is also delicious as a snack, on bread or on a board with various antipasti.
