This cheese comes from Passchendaele, a place in West Flanders . In the 1920s, the couple Romain Donck and Germaine Spruytte started producing this cheese in their own farm. Today there is a large dairy company where this cheese is made in a modern way, although the quality and taste have not changed in all those years.
Passchendaele has a golden yellow color and a white rind. The taste is best described as mild and fruity. The texture is very airy, because the cheese is full of small holes and is therefore nice and light and creamy.
With a slice of this cheese you can turn every sandwich into something special. Passchendaele is also tasty enough to enjoy as a snack or with a drink. With a nice white beer or glass of Chardonnay you have the perfect aperitif.
