Danish cheese
Danish cheese
For a small country, Denmark has a surprising amount of Danish cheese. Even some very famous cheeses that are loved all over the world , such as Tilsitter Havarti and Dana Mont Blue .
Some cheeses that come from Denmark are really unique to the country, others have influences from France and Switzerland. But whether you are looking for a blue mold cheese or a soft mild cheese, Denmark has it all.
Blue Viking
Blue Viking is known as one of the best blue mold cheeses in the world. This blue cheese has a special character but is less overwhelming than, for example, a French Roquefort. The cheese is semi-hard on the inside, white in color and very creamy. Veins of blue mold run through the entire cheese, which gives the cheese a nice, firm, salty bite.
This cheese fits into many different recipes and can be sliced, spread or crumbled. The cheese goes well with dark bread and red wine.
Tilsitter Havartic
This cheese is also often referred to as Danish Tilsit . This semi-hard cheese is yellowish in color and has small irregular holes throughout the cheese. The cheese is quite young and therefore has a mild taste, this taste becomes more intense if you leave the cheese for a while, it is really a “living” product. The crust is naturally washed.
The Havarti is produced in a block, and is wrapped in foil. We cut off the desired weight for you and vacuum pack the cheese. The cheese is named after a Danish farm where they experimented with cheese. The discoverer of this delicious cheese is Mrs. Hanne Nielson.
