What is smoked cheese?
Smoked cheese is a smoked processed cheese . Smoking the cheese in a natural way on oak and beech wood gives it that delicious smoky taste.
Cheese, like so many other foods, can be smoked hot or cold. Both methods give the cheese a slightly different taste and appearance.
Cold smoking means that during the smoking process the temperature does not exceed 30 degrees Celsius. Besides the fact that smoked cheese gets an extra taste dimension , it also benefits the shelf life of the product.
When smoking hot, we speak of a temperature of between 30 and 90 degrees Celsius. It is of course possible that the cheese will melt at these temperatures.
Original smoked cheese
All cheeses from the Hollands Kaashuis that are in the smoked cheese section are actually smoked .
There are also many cheeses, and we are mainly talking about cheeses from the supermarket, which have an addition of smoke aroma. This gives a fake smoky taste to the cheese.
You can also smoke cheese at home. It is better not to do this if the cheese already has an intense taste of its own, but rather with a neutral cheese. Otherwise, you run the risk of completely overshadowing the smoked taste of the cheese.
To keep it simple, it is best to smoke the smoked cheese cold. Smoked cheese can be used in many types of dishes, such as in pasta, salad and on bread.
Don’t wait any longer and order the best quality smoked cheese right away at the Hollands Kaashuis, because where there is smoke, there is smoked cheese.
