Drink coffee like an Italian
Caffè: This literally means coffee. But in Italy this is an espresso! So be careful if you want to order a normal Dutch cup of coffee in Italy.
Cappuccino: This is an espresso with a nice foam layer of Italian milk .
Caffè macchiato: This means “Coffee with a splash”. In this case, a splash of milk.
Latte macchiato: This means milk with a good amount of coffee. So that’s what it literally means! A heap of milk with a splash of coffee.
Caffè americano: Filter coffee does not exist in Italy. In this case you get an espresso mixed with warm water.
Caffè lungo: A “long” coffee, in this case with more water. The difference between this coffee and Caffe Americano is that the coffee is drawn very slowly in the machine. As a result, there is twice as much water in it.
Now that you are fully informed, nothing stands in the way of making delicious coffee at home!
